Brand new subwoofer blown after one day?!?!?

I have a Dual Bandpass XINBP210 that has two 10 inch subs in it hooked up to a Sony Xplode 1200 watt amp. Both subs are rated at 400 watts and 200 RMS. The one sub had been frozen solid since I had from my cousin a year or so ago and the other one is just fine and bumps. I just bought a Boss Chaos Exxtreme 10 inch sub, rated at 600 watts and 300 RMS, to replace the frozen one. I hooked it up correctly, put the positive on positive and negative on negative. After about 30 minutes or so of use, the new Boss sub stopped working. I can't push the cone in but you can pull it out. It still plays but it sounds like a cracked speaker and you can smell its burning. So I took it out and put the old frozen one back in for now. Can anyone give me an explanation as to why this sub would be blown and the other one in the box is perfectly fine? I mean the other one is rated at lower wattage and everything but isn't scratchy when the cone is pushed in and the cone is still pretty tight.
